05/28/2023..LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, C. – Trainer Elena Andrade added another victory to her recent hot streak following a victory by her homebred Disruptor in the featured allowance event on Saturday night at Los Alamitos. Disruptor’s victory gives Andrade five wins from her last six starters. Ridden by Armando Viramontes for owners Oscar Andrade and Steve Burns, the gelding by Apollitical Jess out of Corona Mas Fina won the 300-yard allowance event by a length in :15.46.

Andrade now ranks 10th in the Quarter Horse trainer standings this season with seven winners from 29 starters. She’s winning a solid 24.1% rate and her barn includes James Smith Memorial Handicap winner Jessica Cruz and A Ransom Handicap winner Jess Being A Friend. Andrade’s recent string of Quarter Horse wins includes Jessica Cruz on May 21, Trix Up My Sleeve and Hubba Hubba on May 20, and Jazzys Dashin Eagle on May 14. She also finished second in a race with Heather Denise on May 20.

“It feels amazing,” Andrade said of her win streak. “It’s finally come together. I have a great team right now. It’s been really rough getting started and finding the right fit. Right now it’s happening. The vibe is good, everything is clicking, and obviously the results are there. Disruptor is a homebred so he’s pretty special to us. Steve and Jo Burns, my partners, we had to take a step back and figure out what worked with him. We finally think we found the combination.”

Andrade campaigned Disruptor’s dam, Corona Mas Fina. Jessica Cruz’s dam, Jess Cuz, is a mare that Andrade also trained with success for Double Bar S Ranch. In addition to Jessica Cruz, Jess Cuz is the dam of  Double Bar S Ranch’s Cuz Lightyear, a Corona Cartel colt who qualified to the Grade 3 Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational.

Andrade added that she’s hoping to saddle a couple of horses next weekend at Los Alamitos. Surely, they’ll be ones that racing fans will be watching closely thanks to her current success.
