02/22/18..440 Post – We took a pretty good belly shot from Hurricane Harvey out here. The entire place went 3 feet under water. I had 4 horses loaded in my trailer, but the water came up so fast I could not leave. We stayed up on the highway in front of my place for 3 days, fortunately the temps were cool enough that the horses did not overheat. All I had to feed the horses was wet hay, but they were glad to have it. I have hauled horses all over the country, some haul good and others are not very good at all. But these horses must have sensed the gravity of our situation, because they were extremely well behaved. Think about that for a minute, three days and nights in a trailer that was not moving, in August, in south Texas, and no feed. Plenty of water though, along with that wet hay. I slept in my truck for 5 nights in a row. I am not able to live in my house yet, but fortunately I was building an office here before the hurricane hit, so I am living in it for now. Still have a lot of work ahead, but things are looking up! I’ll post updates as things progress.
