11/24/2025..VINTON, LA. – Delta Downs hosted a special afternoon program on Tuesday and the featured race was for 2-year-old fillies in the $100,000 My Trusty Cat competing at 7-1/2 furlongs. The heavy favorite was Kontiki from the Brad Cox barn, but it was a Tom Amoss trainee named Actis that stole the show under leading jockey Vicente Del-Cid.
Actis broke sharply in the My Trusty Cat before being taken back off the early pace set by Hurricane Kate in the two-turn showdown. Hurricane Kate set fractional times of 23.18 seconds for the opening quarter mile and 47.68 for the half mile before feeling the heat from her rivals entering the far turn. Not a Lady and Miss Metoyer were first to attack the leader while Actis was passing rivals quickly from mid-pack and rapidly approaching the front-runners.
At the head of the lane, Del-Cid had his mount in full gear, and they charged to the lead with a furlong to go. Through the stretch Actis was driving and won the race by 4-3/4 lengths over Not a Lady. Ritzaphena came on to be third, another 3 ¾-lengths behind the runner-up.
Actis, who is owned by Joel Politi, covered the distance over a fast track and under sunny skies in a time of 1:34.24. The win also gave Del-Cid his third of four wins on the program.
Actis now has two wins from six overall starts. She earned $60,000 for her exploits on Tuesday and her bankroll now stands at $95,800.
Bred in Kentucky by Lantern Hill Farm LLC, Phil Needham & Judy Needham, Actis is a 2-year-old chestnut filly by Hard Spun, out of the Mr. Greeley mare Miss Relentless. She was purchased at the 2024 Keeneland September sale for $150,000.
Sent off at odds of 3-1 on the toteboard, Actis returned $8.60 to win, $4.80 to place and $3.60 to show. Not a Lady was worth $8.60 to place and $6.40 to show. Ritzaphena paid $18 to show.
